The i850 and i860 "Muscle" phones

For those wishing a full featured "muscle" phone from Nextel / Motorola, the choice had been a tough one between the i860 and the i850.  The i860 was the earlier model, but in fact not only had a camera but also a larger internal color screen plus a larger external screen.  This makes the i860 a good choice not just for phone conversations, but also for text messaging and email.  One member of our staff has selected one of these and loves its usage and uses it for five different email accounts.

On the other hand, the i850 is newer and added the newer expanded SIM memory with Group Connect, also adding the new neat feature of "Direct Talk".  What Direct Talk does is it allows two Nextel phones that have Direct Talk to talk to each other like a walkie-talkie - even if there are no Nextel towers or normal service around.  So, one can talk between phones in the middle of a desert or on an ocean liner as well - at least between the "Direct Talk" Nextel phones near by.  The i850 had a slightly smaller external and internal screens than the i860, however, the number of pixels on at least the internal screen were the same.  Hence one could say that the i850 was more compact and had the same amount of main screen clarity.

Which to Choose?

The answer now is clear, that when deciding between the i850 and the i860, that the i870 might be just the answer.  Not only does the i870 contain all of the above important features of camera and big screen, but also adds bluetooth capability (hands free earpiece) and MP3 music capability.  The i870 is a very complete phone, containing, camera, bluetooth, MP3 capability and large visible screens all in the same unit.
