| BAUD Baud is essentially the speed of wireless data transmission. It is an early measurement technique often used for telegraph and it is now mostly replaced by bps - bits per second. Baud might be the same value as bps and might be different for a given situation. Baud really looks at the zero crossings (ac frequency) of the data being transmitted. Since there are different methods of sending data, sometimes it is possible that more that a baud could in fact equal more that one bps. If this seems confusing, others thought it seemed confusing also. So baud has now been mostly replaced by bps. Bps or bits per second is more easily understood than baud, and is often what people want to know anyway. "bps" tells directly how fast data is actually being transmitted. |
