| GHZ GHz stands for Gigahertz - which could also be stated as a frequency that is at or over 1,000,000,000,000 cycles per second. Wireless products and services use high frequencies as carriers to transport audio, voice, data and multimedia information through the air to wireless receivers. Since wireless products over time have already filled most of the available frequencies lower than 1 GHz, the newer products are often at 1 GHz or higher. Some examples of this are (1) wireless local internet, using 802.11b or 802.11g operate close to 2.4 GHz. Also Bluetooth, a local wireless application for wireless headphones, and computer mice and keyboards also operates near 2.4 GHz. See also Hertz (Hz) |
