| RCC RCC stands for Radio Common Carrier. The term common carrier takes into account that the RCC operating companies would provide wireless service to many possible mobile telephone users - and in fact might also provide paging services from the same antenna masts. The "RCC's" in the US were basically the competition for ATT, the Bell Telephone company. Many cities would be regulated to ensure fair competition, and spoke of an "A" side and a "B" side of the wireless operation in that US city. The "B" side was Bell. The "A" side was an independent - who at that time might be called a Radio Common Carrier or an RCC. |
