| ROAMING Roaming means operating a wireless telephone or radio product on a different system than from the one where you are currently buying service. For example, let us assume that you are living in one city and are buying service form a service provider we will call "A". While you are in that city, all calls will be handled by the service provider "A". However, let us now assume that you travel to a city far away where "A" does not have service. There is still a chance that your cellular telephone might be at the right frequency and the right type of operation for a service in that town. Let us call that operation that is similar and that could also provide service to our cellular telephone as service provider "B": Now at this point, technically, B could provide service. The issue is one of business. If your original service provider ("A") and this other service provider "B" have an agreement called a "roaming agreement", then your phone may in fact work in that city while you are transmitting. In this case, service will be provided by service provider "B" - who then will bill your normal service provider "A" who in turn will bill you within your normal service bill. Depending on your cellular telephone contract, roaming charges may in fact cost more per minute of service than within your normal operating area. |
